Jaques is a modern interpretation of the classic Staunton chess set, originally designed by John Jaques in 1849.

Its pieces are made by concrete casting. That allows different, non radial shapes with enhanced ergonomics. For a better grip the top rejuvenates to an elliptic cross section while the steadfast base remains circular.

Each type is abtracted to the very essence of the Staunton shapes without losing their archetypical recognisibility.
